Beetle Cleaning
Beetle cleaning is a process in which animal skulls are placed in a tank of flesh eating beetles. The beetles feed on the dead flesh and cartilage. The beetles crawl into the holes and cracks of the skull and this is the cleaning process. This cleans the skull so that the skull can be dipped into the water transfer film or whiten for a European mount. Below are some examples of skulls that have been cleaned and one that is to late to be cleaned. The skulls must be fresh off of the skull or frozen after the death of the animal.
